Delta Connection Academy Announces Scholarship Winner
Presentation Made at 2006 Women in Aviation Conference
SANFORD, Fla., May 1, 2006 – Delta Connection Academy has selected Rachel Davis of Louisville, Ky. as the winner of a $5000 training scholarship. The award was recently presented to Davis at the 17th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference held in Nashville, Tenn. The scholarship is to be used towards professional pilot training at Delta Connection Academy.
Miss Davis, a senior at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, graduates in May with a bachelor’s degree and plans to enroll in the June 15 class at Delta Connection Academy. “Receiving this scholarship means everything to me,” said Davis. “It has really helped me to get the ball rolling and begin what I have always dreamed of, which is flying”.
Qualification for the scholarship, which is offered through the Women in Aviation International Organization, requires applicants to hold at least a 3.0 GPA, meet Delta Connection Academy acceptance criteria, three letters of recommendation and submission of an essay based on several subjects specified by the Academy.
Prior to the official presentation of the scholarship, Davis spent several days attending the conference as a guest of Delta Connection Academy.
“Attending the conference was an incredibly overwhelming experience,” said Davis. “The Academy introduced me to more airline pilots and recruiters than I can remember, and everyone was so helpful and encouraging. It was simply inspiring meeting that many people that have already succeeded and accomplished so much.”
